Newman Hall is a hostel for the priests of St. Xavier's Mission. It is spread over a built-up area of 3740 sq. m. The 3-storeyed structure is organized in an H- shaped plan. Two blocks of individual cells open onto common verandahs and overlook an inner quadrangle. A 3-tiered bridge links the 2 blocks to vertical circulation core and a separate common room. The chapel is designed as a small free-standing circular structure and is located between the wings, at the head of the ensemble. It completes the enclosure of the quadrangle which is a pleasant space with casually planted shady trees and Bougainvillea.
