Arya Architects is a young firm that positions itself in the critical space of public architecture. Comprising partners, Meghal and Vijay Arya, the firm started in 1999 and has since established itself as a practice that engages with the challenges of the contemporary ethos of India as a growing economy, along with an acknowledgement of its valuable traditions.
The office has spanned a range of works from the master plan of a zoological park, a sports complex to a small bus station. Their concern for architecture in the public domain emerges out of a critical discourse on quality, dignity and inclusiveness of the spaces. They have participated successfully in several competitions and are also recipients of several national awards.
The firm is dedicated to quality in all realms of the project – from preparing the brief to site analysis to design and construction. It has been able to raise benchmarks in all the projects that they have dealt with, be it reconstruction after the earthquake in Gujarat or the community centre or the BRTS, Ahmedabad both in design and demand on quality. This is done with a staff that is dedicated and qualified.
